Organic Formula Ingredients

Both HiPP Organic Baby Formula and Topfer infant milks boast probiotics and prebiotics in their basic lines, which is not the case with Lebenswert Bio products. Most of the products contain whey, except for some HiPP milks, but soy is also quite common in the brand’s formulas. In particular, their milks for infants under 6 months are soy-free, while starting from HiPP Stage 2 Organic Combiotic soy can be found in many products for older babies. Palm oil is the issue with all the brands, though it is claimed to be of organic origin. Maltodextrin isn’t used in Topfer’s Stage PRE and best breast milk storage bags Lebenswert’s Stage 1, as well as in all HiPP’s products except for their Comfort and Anti-reflux milks, though lactose is also added into the formulas. HiPP Germany basic milks are rather rich in starch, unlike their UK and Dutch versions, but Lebenswert’s Stage 3 and Topfer’s Stage 2-3 contain it, too.

Bottom Line

Though poor in the choice of products, Lebenswert is the only one among the brands, holding a Bioland certificate. Since its standards exceed EU requirements, the brand is worth considering for those babies who are not very picky in the diet. Both Topfer and HiPP should be praised for their great choice of milks for specific needs, but we recognize HiPP as the best German organic baby formula for their more balanced choice of ingredients.
